Mollisfossen, with its 269 meters, is probably the biggest waterfall in northern Norway.
Mallisfossen is in fast the river Mollešjohka falling down to the Reisadalen in 3 steps. The longest, lowest step represents 140 meters of free-falling water.
Mollisfossen is the most impressive in spring, when the Mollešjohka river is full of melted snow from the endless surrounding mountain plateaus and you can hear the waterfall thundering from kilometers away. On sunny days, the water spray creates a beautiful rainbow.
Be aware that the waterfall is on the opposite side of the river than the marked trail Nordkalottleden. Therefore, it is not easy to reach Mollisfossen without the boat in the later spring, in the summer, and in early autumn, when there is no ice on the Reisa river.

TOUR DESCRIPTION
In winter, you can reach frozen Mollisfossen after 19 km of walking on the frozen Reisa river. Be aware that this part of Reisadalen is often extremely cold, with no mobile phone coverage. You must have good outdoor skills and equipment to dare to come here.
When the river Reisa is unfrozen, it is not so easy to get to Mollisfossen without a boat or cold swimming, as it is located on the other side of the river compared to where the hiking trail is located.
Therefore, most people visit Mollisfossen on guided trips on traditional river boats. You can book your trip HERE
